Adidas ‘Authentic’ NHL Team Jerseys Mere Replicas, Suit Say

Adidas America Inc.'s $180 replica National Hockey League team jerseys are falsely marketed as “authentic,” given that the garments differ in numerous ways from those worn by professional hockey players, a consumer says in a new lawsuit.

“Consumers purchasing NHL jerseys marketed as ‘authentic,’ by the company which makes the jerseys worn by NHL teams, will expect they are purchasing jerseys of identical quality to those worn by NHL players,” David Inouye says in the complaint, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
